Broadband Compact Circularly Polarized Spiral Antenna Array Fed by Printed Gap Waveguide for Millimeter-Wave Applications

This paper presents a new design for wideband circularly polarized (CP) spiral antenna array fed by differential aperture coupling. The excitation is realized two vias located at the lateral sides of transverse slot etched on lower substrate. proposed two-arm has smaller size compared to conventional antennas with several turns. presented single radiating element provides impedance bandwidth (|S11| <; -10 dB) 40.4% and 3-dB axial ratio (AR) 23.2% peak RHCP gain 7.2 dBic over operating frequency band. To further enhance AR maximum gain, CP employed in 2×2 sequential feeding arrangement. network implemented using low-loss printed gap waveguide (PGW) line, which compatible low-cost circuit board (PCB) technology.
